Best Hiking Trails on the Eastside

Nature Lover’s Paradise in the Heart of the Pacific Northwest

Discover the best hiking trails on the Eastside — from family-friendly waterfall walks to scenic mountain views. Honest difficulty notes, trail maps, and insider local tips from Your Pacific NW.

The Eastside of the Puget Sound — from Bellevue and Issaquah to North Bend and Snoqualmie — is a true hiker’s paradise. People come from all over to experience the endless trails, waterfalls, and panoramic mountain views that make our region so special.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit — I’m not a hardcore hiker! I’m much more of a “give me good views, easy terrain, and a coffee stop on the way home” kind of trail-goer. But that’s what I love most about living here: even the easy trails in our backyard are breathtaking.

If you’re looking for hikes that are beautiful, approachable, and family-friendly, these Eastside favorites are the perfect place to start.

Family-Friendly Hikes

Twin Falls Trail — North Bend
📍Trail Map | 3 miles roundtrip
One of my personal favorites! This easy trail follows the South Fork Snoqualmie River through lush forest before opening up to the Twin Falls waterfall. It’s great for families, dogs, and even casual hikers who just want a peaceful day in nature.

Franklin Falls Trail — Snoqualmie Pass
📍 Trail Map | 2 miles roundtrip
An Eastside classic! This short, easy trail leads to a stunning waterfall — and it’s absolutely magical in spring when the falls are roaring. Just bring a rain jacket if you like to get close!

Denny Creek Trail — Snoqualmie Pass
📍 Trail Map | 6 miles roundtrip
During the summer, this trail comes alive with wildflowers and the sound of Keekwulee Falls. It’s great for families or anyone who enjoys a long, easy walk with plenty of scenery.

Moderate Adventures (Still Worth It!)

Annette Lake Trail — Snoqualmie Pass
📍 Trail Map | 7.5 miles roundtrip
If you’re up for something a little more challenging but still doable, Annette Lake is a gem. The trail winds through tall evergreens and ends at a stunning alpine lake — bring lunch and enjoy the view.

Rattlesnake Ledge Trail — North Bend
📍 Trail Map | 4 miles roundtrip
One of the most popular hikes near Seattle — and for good reason. It’s short, steep in parts, but the views of Rattlesnake Lake and the surrounding mountains are unforgettable. Go early to avoid crowds!

Little Si Trail — North Bend
📍 Trail Map | 4.7 miles roundtrip
A great “starter mountain” hike if you’re not ready for the full Mount Si climb. It’s a moderate uphill trek with rewarding views, and it’s dog-friendly too.

For the Adventurous Crowd

(Okay — I’ll be honest, these are the ones I hear great things about but probably won’t be tackling anytime soon myself 😅.)

Mount Si Trail — North Bend
📍 Trail Map | 8 miles roundtrip
A bucket-list hike for locals and visitors alike. It’s steep and long, but the views from the top are worth every step.

Granite Mountain Trail — Snoqualmie Pass
📍 Trail Map | 8.6 miles roundtrip
This one’s for serious hikers! You’ll climb through alpine meadows and end with breathtaking panoramic views. Bring trekking poles and snacks.

Lake Serene & Bridal Veil Falls — Index
📍 Trail Map | 8.2 miles roundtrip
It’s a workout, but wow — the payoff is a stunning alpine lake and an incredible waterfall detour. This trail is legendary for a reason.
