Warm days in the Pacific Northwest mean one thing if you’re a dog owner—it’s time to find a great spot for your pup to cool off! Luckily, we’re surrounded by parks that aren’t just beautiful for people, but also perfect for dogs who love the water.
Whether your dog is a seasoned swimmer or just enjoys a wade in the shallows, there are some awesome off-leash areas and lakeside trails throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. I’ve rounded up some of our favorite local dog-friendly parks with water access—places I’ve recommended to clients and explored myself.
Pack a towel, some treats, and don’t forget the tennis ball—here are the best places to let your pup splash, swim, and enjoy the great outdoors!
📍 7400 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA
This spot is always a favorite. Magnuson has a big, fully fenced off-leash area with access to Lake Washington, and dogs love the water entrance. There’s plenty of space for running and swimming, plus separate areas for shy or small dogs.
📍 6046 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE, Redmond, WA
Marymoor is basically dog paradise. It has 40 acres of off-leash fun, and a river section where pups can swim, splash, and explore. There are trails, wide-open fields, and it’s a social scene for dogs and humans alike.
📍 2040 84th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA
This one feels a little more low-key, which is sometimes just what you need. There’s a small, designated off-leash area and direct shoreline access so your pup can dip into Lake Washington. It’s a peaceful, grassy space with plenty of benches for humans to relax. (This is one of our favorites) 🐕
📍 470 Admiral Way, Edmonds, WA
Dogs + Sound + sunset views = the perfect evening. Edmonds Marina Beach has an off-leash area right on the water, and it’s one of the few spots where dogs can run, swim, and dig in the sand to their heart’s content.
📍 1127 Olympic Blvd, Everett, WA
Tucked away and super scenic, Howarth has a beachy lower level that’s dog-friendly and right on the Sound. The path down is a bit of a walk, but totally worth it. Bring a towel and maybe a thermos of coffee—this spot is a gem.
📍 13521 Manor Way, Lynnwood, WA
This park has great tree cover for warm days and direct access to Lake Stickney where dogs can wade in and cool off. It’s not fancy, but it’s a local favorite for laid-back water play and quieter visits.
📍 6705 Puget Park Dr, Snohomish, WA
One of the few spots with a dog-specific swimming pond! Willis Tucker also has agility equipment, trails, and a big off-leash area. It’s ideal for energetic pups who want to do it all—run, jump, swim, repeat.
📍 1600 SW Seahurst Park Rd, Burien, WA
Not technically off-leash, but it’s worth the trip! This quiet, wooded beach park has leashed access to the water, and the gentle shoreline is perfect for nervous swimmers. It’s peaceful and full of shaded picnic spots for a post-play break.
📍 25205 8th Pl S, Des Moines, WA
Another leashed-only option, but a fun one if you want a beach day that includes your dog. There’s a forest trail loop, too, so your pup gets both a walk and a splash. (Pro tip: go early before it gets busy!)
📍 3505 Lowell-Snohomish River Rd, Everett, WA
River lovers, this one’s for you. Rotary Park offers shoreline access to the Snohomish River and is a nice, quiet alternative to the more popular beaches. Dogs must be leashed, but the calm water makes it a relaxing option.
📍 6320 Grandview Dr W, University Place, WA
Wide trails, waterfront access, and amazing views. Dogs must stay leashed, but many locals head to Chambers Bay for a combo of exercise and light water play. It’s great for social pups and humans alike.
Check signage at each park—some spots require leashes even near water.
Bring fresh water and towels (especially for the car ride home!)
Use caution around currents or deep water—some parks are better for wading than full swimming.
And always, always pick up after your pup 💩
The Pacific Northwest makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors with your dog, and with so many beaches, lakes, and river access points nearby, you’ve got no shortage of places to explore. Whether you’re sticking close to home or planning a weekend doggy day trip, there’s a perfect splash spot waiting.
